Stuck at Home but want to get away?

Life can be non-stop. Work ,family, errands, obligations, etc. – it can be relentless. Sometimes we just want to get away from it all. If we have our own private jet, no problem. Hop in and fly miles away from everything!

Odds are that we don’t have our own private jet… So how can we “get away” without actually leaving our home?

A man cave.

What is a Man Cave

It is what it sounds like. A place of refuge that doesn’t have to live up the décor and rules of the rest of the house. It’s our own personal space after a long day.

Even though it’s a “man” cave, it’s not anti-women. As it’s been said,”Women are allowed, they just don’t have any decorating authority.”

What can a man cave include?

It really depends on our interests, hobbies, and activities. What do we like?Do we like watching sports, drinking beer, and playing cards? Do we want a place to exercise? Maybe a place to play music as loud as we want? Perhaps we have a ton of collectibles that we want to showcase.

Man Cave ideas for Inspiration

What we add to our man cave really depends on our interests, hobbies, and activities. What do we like? Do we like watching sports, drinking beer, and playing cards? Do we want a place to exercise? Maybe a place to play music as loud as we want? Perhaps we have a ton of collectibles that we want to showcase.

latest man cave ideasDo we want it to be a personal space or a social space? This will influence how much seating we need, food and beverage options, variety of entertainment, and even how aesthetically pleasing it needs to be.

Decorations usually start with a recliner and a television. After that, you’re only limited by your imagination and financial resources. Possible ideas include:

  • a bar
  • home theater(with tiered seating, maybe?)
  • poker table
  • pool table
  • pinball machine
  • foosball
  • arcade
  • bowling alley
  • popcorn maker
  • hot dog warmer
  • memorabilia showcase

Whew! What a list! Checking out online photos of awesome man caves can also give us inspiration. Some of them I don’t think I would ever want to leave…

Most likely, we plan on finishing on our basement before we decorate our man cave. How can we protect our investment?

Make sure your basement is dry, no water is getting in and no moisture is building up inside your home.

Check out this blog post that talks specifically about how moisture can get into your home.
